Our planning guides are designed for an international audience. Funding, permissions, building requirements and equipment availability depend on where you live. These four starting notes are not a complete worldwide directory.

Find a funding starting point with three guided questions, then use the relevant country guide and official agency.

Elsewhere in the world

Ask your local health or social-care service about an occupational-therapy or equivalent functional assessment. Contact your municipality or building authority about proposed works, and your landlord or building manager about permissions. Do not apply another country's grant rules or design standards to your home.

Tax relief by country

Read the tax notes on your country’s own planning page. Credits, deductions and VAT/GST treatment affect a project budget in different ways; check the filing year or supply date and the conditions for the actual work.

Check insurance before committing to work

Find out which policy, benefit or claim route could apply to the exact adaptation. Our insurance guide separates health and equipment benefits, property claims, injury support, cash benefits, public programmes and tax relief.
